iCius Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 7, 2026

iCius is a medication reminder app. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, why, how you can access, export, or delete your information — and, because iCius deals with medication schedules, it also explains the limits of what the app does and does not do, and the limits of the Developer's responsibility for how you use it. This Policy should be read together with our Terms of Use, which contains the complete, legally binding Limitation of Liability. By using iCius, you agree to both documents.

Data we collect

What we DON'T collect

iCius does not access your camera (except for the local, on-device QR scan used to pair a caregiver and dependent, which never leaves your phone), photo library, location, contacts, or microphone. We do not use cookies, web trackers, advertising identifiers, or any analytics SDK. We do not build advertising profiles, and we do not use your data for any automated decision-making or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.

Legal basis for processing

Where applicable (for example, under the EU/UK GDPR or Brazil's LGPD), we process your data on the following legal bases: (a) performance of a contract — providing the reminder and Caregiver Mode features you signed up for; (b) consent — for optional features such as Caregiver Mode pairing, which requires the affirmative action of both the caregiver and the person being cared for; and (c) legitimate interest — for basic security and fraud-prevention measures. You may withdraw consent at any time by removing a pairing or deleting your account, without affecting the lawfulness of processing carried out before the withdrawal.

How we use your data

We use your data exclusively to operate the app's features: scheduling and displaying medication reminders, syncing information between a caregiver and the person they care for, and sending alerts when enabled. We never sell your data to third parties, and we never use it for advertising.

Who we share data with

We don't share your data with anyone beyond these providers, which are strictly necessary for the app to function, act solely as data processors on our behalf, and are not permitted to use your data for their own purposes. We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to any third party, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.

International data transfers

Our service providers (Supabase, Firebase Cloud Messaging) may process and store data on servers located outside your country of residence, including in the European Union and the United States. Where required by applicable law, such transfers rely on the provider's own compliance mechanisms (such as standard contractual clauses). By using iCius, you acknowledge that your data may be processed outside your home country.

Data security and retention

Your medication history, account session, and other locally stored app data are encrypted at rest on your device (AES-256) using a key held in the device's secure hardware-backed keystore. Data in transit to our backend (Supabase) is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS. We retain your data for as long as your account is active; if you delete your account, your data is erased immediately and permanently, as described below. Despite these safeguards, no method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You use the app's data-sharing features (in particular Caregiver Mode) at your own risk and discretion.

Account and data deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data at any time, directly in the app (Settings → Delete account) or through this page: icius.app/delete-account.html. Deletion is immediate and permanent. Because deletion is permanent and irreversible, the Developer is not responsible for data you delete by mistake or for the consequences of losing access to medication history you have not exported beforehand.

Children's privacy

iCius is not directed at children and is not intended for use by anyone under 13 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us at the address below and we will delete it.

Medical disclaimer — please read carefully

iCius is a personal reminder and organization tool. It is NOT a medical device, a healthcare or telemedicine service, a substitute for advice from a doctor, pharmacist, or any healthcare professional, or a clinically validated tool for diagnosing, treating, curing, or preventing any medical condition. The Developer is not a doctor, pharmacist, or healthcare professional. All medication names, doses, and schedules shown in the app are entered exclusively by the user or their caregiver — the app does not verify, validate, correct, or medically review this data in any way. Never take, change, stop, or substitute any medication based solely on information shown by the app. Always consult a licensed doctor or pharmacist about your medications.

Disclaimer of warranties and limitation of liability

The app and the data-handling features described in this Policy are provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, reliability, or continuous availability. To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, the Developer is not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages connected to the collection, storage, syncing, or delivery (or failure to deliver) of the data described in this Policy — including missed or delayed medication reminders or caregiver alerts caused by notification-delivery failures, operating-system restrictions (such as Do Not Disturb or battery optimization), lack of internet connectivity, third-party service outages (Supabase, Expo, Firebase), device loss or damage, or unauthorized access resulting from a User sharing their own credentials or pairing code. You assume full responsibility and risk for how you configure, share, and rely on the data-sharing features of the app, in particular Caregiver Mode. This section summarizes, and does not replace, the complete Limitation of Liability, disclaimer of warranties, and liability cap set out in our Terms of Use, which control in the event of any difference between the two documents.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, restrict or object to certain processing, request data portability, and withdraw consent at any time. If you are in the European Economic Area or UK, you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection supervisory authority. If you are a California resident, the CCPA gives you the right to know what personal information is collected, to request its deletion, and to not be discriminated against for exercising these rights — we do not sell personal information as defined by the CCPA. You can exercise most of these rights directly in the app (Settings), or by contacting us at the address below; we will respond within the time required by applicable law.

Cookies and tracking

The iCius mobile app does not use cookies. Our website (icius.app) does not use analytics, advertising, or tracking cookies either — only strictly necessary, session-based technical mechanisms required for the site's own language-preference switcher, which is stored locally in your browser and never transmitted to us.

Data breach notification

In the event of a data breach that creates a real risk to your rights and freedoms, we will notify affected users and, where legally required, the competent supervisory authority, without undue delay and in accordance with applicable law.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app. Continued use of iCius after a change means you accept the updated policy.

Governing law

This Privacy Policy is governed by the laws of the Federative Republic of Brazil, consistent with our Terms of Use, except where applicable consumer-protection or data-protection law in your own country grants you additional rights that cannot be waived.
